How can you deal with burnout effectively?

How can we deal with burnout and overwhelm during this time of year? Here are some tips that might help you cope no matter what's going on in your life.



The last month of the year is on and this tends to be one of the busiest seasons for a lot of us. Not just professionally, but perhaps also in terms of family obligations, holiday festivities and else.


How can we prevent us from burning out or feeling overwhelmed?

Here is what I've done: 


  1. I have de-activated any apps I don't need and that just distract me. If this includes a messaging app you don't need, even better. We are also currently in mercury retrograde, so a lot of misunderstandings and communication errors might happen. 

  2. I have started decluttering my physical life (you can also wait until after the holidays for this). Living with less clutter frees up energetic space for feeling better, clearer and more focused. I'm sure the teachings of Feng Shui can tell you more about this.   3. I am not replying to things that don't need my immediate attention. If I am not feeling that invitation my friend sent me, I will simply not go. My energy is too precious to be wasted in places it is not appreciated anyhow. 

  4. I am ticking off things on my to-do-lists. These are projects that have needed my attention all year already but have been pushed on the backburner. I have also started re-recording a lot of things I've been wanting to for ages.

  5. BUT: Remember not to be too hard on yourself if it does not all work out according to plan anyhow. 

  6. I take plenty of time in nature: Walking in the park, being with myself and honoring silent time at least a few times a week. The more we can do this, the less relevant the stress factors appear. Most problems will solve themselves anyhow.
